Milestones just keep coming

Faith has been reluctant to allow Gabrielle to do too much touching of her face so she has had her halter on since we picked her up three weeks ago.  Well today she allowed Gabrielle to take the halter off, put on a rope halter and then take that halter off when they were through working.

Gabrielle continues to work on leading, turns, starting and stopping as well as general handling.  Also new for today was being able to gently pull on the flap of skin between her belly and hind leg.  This is a desensitizing thing that we do in preparation for trimming their feet.  Just getting her ready and ok with different parts being tugged and held without causing concern.  While she has been willing to allow Gabrielle to pick up her feet she has been flinchy about the skin flap.  Today Gabrielle saw improvement in that and was encouraged.

Last year during the competition one of the few areas Gabrielle and Jet were marked down was that he was very itchy.  Well it appears that we have the same problem this year with Faith. She is scratching a lot.  She has been wormed and is on a daily dewormer so we don't think it is a worm issue.  Also she is itchy all over not just her tail.  Gabrielle is brushing her daily hoping that will help with the dandruff she seems to have and has given her a sponge bath already.  She is hoping to start bathing her soon with some special soap.  Hopefully we can help relieve the dryness and discomfort for Faith.
